Letter from the Curatorial Board
Over the past twelve years, Art with Heart has taken on a life of its own, growing from a small charity sale to, arguably, the most important contemporary art auction in Canada. While the staff at Casey House Foundation masterfully juggles the dual responsibilities of fundraising and event planning, as curators, we have the glamorous and enviable position of simply selecting fantastic artwork.
This year, we have attempted to include more established and senior artists to the collection. We hope Art with Heart will continue in this direction as Canada's senior artists (and dealers) support the contribution of our emerging artists by raising the profile and thus the overall success of the auction. A huge thank you to all the artists, galleries, and individuals who so graciously donated work, and to PACART for coordinating their movement within ridiculous deadlines and even greater chaos.
And while the significance of supporting Casey House may seem small when compared to the big picture and the AIDS crisis worldwide, it is precisely the contribution to our own community, our own backyard, which opens our eyes and can lead us to affect global change. As the first AIDS hospice in the world, Casey House is a model to be emulated and duplicated in other countries. Its contribution, not only to individual lives, but also as a model of compassionate care worldwide, can only continue with your support.
Thank you again to everyone. The goodwill is staggering, and it is an honour to be involved.
