Message from the Curatorial Co-Chairs

Unbridled Enthusiasm

Co-ChairsAt our first curatorial committee meeting back in February, the group wondered whether artists and galleries would be in a position to support Art with Heart as generously as they have previously, given the past year's chilly economic climate.

We needn't have worried; the unbridled enthusiasm that Toronto's artists and galleries expressed for Art with Heart this year was undiminished. For this, we are deeply grateful. In fact, this year's collection features several galleries and artists who have not been in the auction before. We are also pleased to say that this year's Art with Heart collection is truly national in scope, with galleries from Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax participating. As always, the members of the Curatorial Board were tireless in their quest to build an auction of the most interesting, challenging and exciting contemporary art being produced by Canadians today.

It has been a privilege to serve as this year's Curatorial Co-chairs, and to work with the knowledgeable and committed individuals who serve on the Curatorial Board. The same heart-felt appreciation is also extended to Fernanda and the staff at Akau who provided quality framing for many of the pieces in the auction. We are also honoured to be associated with a place as unique as Casey House. Knowing that the money raised tonight will benefi t such a worthwhile organization makes the months of hard work totally worth it.

Now, our task is fi nished, but your work has only just begun. As you peruse this year's catalogue, deciding which piece of art (or pieces!) you just can't live without, remember that the money raised at Art with Heart translates into increased dignity and independence for people living with HIV/AIDS in our community.

Have a wonderful time at this year's event, and happy bidding!
