Artist Statement

Annie’s drawings are inspired by scenes from her own life in contemporary Cape Dorset. In the drawing COMPOSITION (OUTPOST CAMP), she depicts a man and woman in their camp. The woman is bending over while the man stares at her from behind, making for a rather comical scene. In a style unique to Annie, she depicts every object in the drawing with a special attention to detail, from the outlet in the wall to the used coffee mugs placed realistically around the image.
